Web19 apr. 2024 · memset() is very fast, as it benefits from stosb op code internally. Is there a function for 16 and 32 bit values which similar efficiently benefits from stosb, stosw and/or stosd? wmemset() is not portable and does not help on 16 bit values. WebWe aren't going to dig into the assembly for memset here, but the fastest possible memset would run at 32 bytes/cycle, limited by 1 store/cycle and maximum vector the width of 32 bytes on my machine, so the measured value of 29 bytes/cycle indicates it's using an implementation something along those lines.

It is up to the programmer to ensure that only valid memory is written to. And now that you've decided to post your code, I see you mistakenly use sizeof(stackptr) for the size instead of sizeof(stackT).
Web9 nov. 2011 · Generally memset () is used to initialize the values of a block of memory to a fixed value (one byte at a time). If you have a long long value you want to set, you can easily do that (safely is depending on HOW you do it) with casting (unless you have some unaligned access issues). – Chad. Oct 25, 2011 at 17:27. Web9 jul. 2024 · Solution 4. The answer is 'it depends'. memset MAY be more efficient, or it may internally use a for loop. I can't think of a case where memset will be less efficient. In this case, it may turn into a more efficient for loop: your loop iterates 500 times setting a bytes worth of the array to 0 every time.
Web3 aug. 2024 · We are generetanig code from an state machine (state flow) and memset is used only in the initialize service. The rationale is probably because you can achieve exactly the same functionality using memset function.
